GameStop Needs To Suspend All Business Until Further Notice
GameStop should suspend all business hours, at every location, while continuing to pay hourly and salary workers, during the spread of the coronavirus.
Why is this important?
Closing GameStop, during this pandemic of the coronavirus, is crucial. This is a respiratory virus, and the only way to stop the spread of the virus is to stay away from others. The CDC has continually emplored all people and businesses to close to contain and slow the spread of the virus.
Although washing your hands frequently, limiting customers, and disinfecting the store is helpful, that will not prevent the spread of coronavirus. Both customers AND employees are at risk of catching and spreading the virus. At this point, there is no way to know who has the coronavirus, due to the limited number of tests. Suspending all business hours, until further notice, WHILE continuing to pay both hourly, and salary workers would be beneficial to both customers & partners.
Employees and Customers can display no symptoms while still being able to transmit the virus to others. Employees have to go home to their families who may be immunocompromised, and by going to work, they are increasing the risk of themselves or their family catching the virus. Instead of waiting until an employee has been exposed or catches the virus, closing all stores would prevent anyone from getting the virus. At this current time, employees are on the frontlines, potentially being exposed and spreading the virus unknowingly.
Positive relationships with the employer and feeling supported by the employer are the top markers of employee satisfaction. Employee satisfaction is the number one factor in business success. You must make the right choice.
The moral thing to do would be to suspend business while paying partners until there is a grip on the virus.
