Elgin Community College Staff, Students, and Community Members say NO OUTSOURCING of Our Custodians

We, the undersigned, staff, students, and community members stand in support of our dedicated custodians, who take great pride in maintaining our college campus and keeping school grounds safe and clean at all times. Many of our custodians are residents of the community; some have children, who attend our college and others have even graduated from ECC. Outsourcing our custodians threatens the quality of the work and the safety of our campus community.

We call on the Elgin Community College Board of Trustees to maintain our custodians and fulfill Elgin Community College’s mission and live up to its values, including:
1. Strategic Goals: Enhance Elgin Community College as an employer of choice.
2. Community Engagement: As an active and involved part of our community, we must play an integral role in developing, advancing, and serving the local community.

The security of our custodians’ jobs and livelihoods reflects upon us as a college community.
