National Fast Food Workers Union (California Region)
California fast food workers have been fighting for higher pay and dignity on the job for ten years. After winning unprecedented wage increases at the city, country and state level from 2014-2018, workers fought for and won a first of its kind sector council in 2022 by passing the FAST Recovery Act (aka AB257). Over 400 fast food restaurants and many thousands of fast food workers have gone on strike in California in the last three years to win tangible victories at their stores and to demonstrate that the crisis in their industry requires a major legislative intervention like AB257. They continue to fight everyday to change the balance of power in their industry and are currently preparing for the fight of their lives: defeating the corporate fast food referendum against AB257, which attempts to silence them.
